Nissan will bring back Datsun as an EV Brand | Datsun Electric Car

Like many other global automakers, Nissan too is focusing on the transition to electric powertrain from conventional petrol and diesel powertrain technologies. Keeping a focus on this, the automobile group aims to streamline its operation and expenditures. The decision to discontinue Datsun came in line of this strategy only.

Nissan’s affordable car brand Datsun could come back as an all-electric vehicle brand and target the emerging markets, reports Automotive News. This comes just a few days after Nissan announced the discontinuation of Datsun in the Indian market, where the automaker was assembling the Datsun redi-Go lately. The plant in Tamil Nadu was the last facility, where Datsun was manufacturing its cars. The decision came less than 10 years after Nissan resurrected Datsun as an affordable car marquee for the emerging markets.

The carmaker wasn’t able to garner expected sales figures in the Indian market despite rolling out practical and affordable cars. This prompted the Japanese automobile group Nissan to pull the plug on Datsun. While many assumed this is the death of Datsun, the latest report indicates that the carmaker still has a chance to come back.

However, the report also indicates that nothing has been confirmed yet. Nissan is still in the early stages of discussions to resurrect Datsun as a budget electric car brand in the near future.

While announcing the discontinuation of Datsun, Nissan said in a statement that for many thousands of owners worldwide, Datsun continues to provide an engaging driving experience, peace of mind ownership at the right price, and great value. This statement hinted that there might be a future for Datsun after all. “As part of Nissan’s global transformation strategy, Nissan is focusing on core models and segments that bring the most benefit to customers, dealer partners, and the business,” the statement further stated.

Electric Vehicle vs Petrol Vehicle: Cost of petrol burn in 5 years shall recover cost of EV car – Understand the math of saving.

The discussion of electric vehicles has intensified once again. In this era of expensive petrol and diesel, everyone wants that they too should run on electric vehicles. But people are not able to buy electric vehicles even if they want to. If Nitin Gadkari is to be believed, then the prices of petrol and electric vehicles will become equal in the next two years. How much power is there in the claims of Nitin Gadkari, it will be known only after two years. But the biggest reason for not adopting electric vehicles right now is also the expensive price.

Why are electric vehicles so expensive?

Actually, customers want to get rid of petrol-diesel vehicles. But electric vehicles are so expensive that they drag their feet. At present, Tata’s electric cars sell the most in India. In the electric car segment, Tata sells vehicles like Nexon EV and Tigor EV. In which the highest demand is of Tata Nexon EV. In February- 2022, 2,846 units of these two were sold.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARING STATION – TATA POWER

At present, about 2000 units of Nexon EV are being sold every month. But when you compare the petrol Nexon with the electric Nexon, you will be surprised to see the difference in prices. Most of the customers postpone the decision of buying an electric vehicle only after seeing the huge difference in the prices of petrol and electric vehicles, because the customers are not in favour of paying much higher price for electric vehicles as compared to petrol.

Most in demand EV Car- Tata Nexon EV

Currently, Tata’s bestselling electric car is the Tata Nexon EV, with a starting price of Rs 14.54 lakh for its base model (Tata Nexon EV- XM). While the starting price of the top model is Rs 17.15 lakh. Nexon Electric is available in 5 variants. The car accelerates from 0-99 km/h in just 9.9 seconds.

Now let’s talk about Nexon with petrol, its starting price is between Rs 7.42 lakh to Rs 13.70 lakh. While the on-road price of Nexon (Petrol) in Delhi starts from Rs 8.44 lakh and goes up to Rs 16.42 lakh.

TATA NEXON EV – ZIPTRON

If you compare the Nexon with petrol with the Nexon with electric, then there is a huge difference in the prices. The starting price of Tata Nexon-XM (Petrol) is Rs 8,42,900. While the starting price of its electric variant Tata Nexon EV-XM is Rs 14.54 lakh. There is a difference of Rs 6,11,100 in the prices between these two. Despite being the same model, the price of Nexon from petrol to electric is more than Rs.6 lakh.

How EV cars can save cost?

If you buy the Tata Nexon- XM (Petrol), whose ex-showroom price is Rs 8,42,900, whose on-road price is around Rs.9.5 lakh. If you drive about 50 kilometers in this car daily, that is, you travel about 1500 kilometers in a month. According to an estimate, petrol is Rs 100 a liter, so according to this the cost of the month works out to Rs 8,620. Which becomes Rs 1,03,440 in a year. In five years, this figure will be Rs 517,200. This calculation has been done according to 17.4 kmpl milage,

Now let’s talk about electric Nexon, the starting price of Tata Nexon EV-XM is Rs 14.54 lakh. Whose On Road Price in Delhi is 15 and a half lakh rupees. It costs about one rupee per kilometer to drive this car. In such a situation, those who walk 50 km daily will cost only Rs 1500 in a month, Rs 18000 in a year and in 5 years the expenditure will be around Rs 90 thousand.
