Tata Altroz ​​EV to be launched in India by the end of this year

Tata Motors is planning to launch a range of electric cars in the Indian market in the next few years and recently the company has unveiled concept versions of two new electric cars in the country, namely Curve and Avinya. Earlier, the carmaker had also showcased the Sierra concept at the 2020 Auto Expo, which is expected to launch in the coming years. The manufacturer is expected to introduce the all-electric version of the Altroz ​​hatchback in India before the end of this year. The Tata Altroz ​​EV was showcased in pre-production form at the 2020 Auto Expo and was expected to go on sale before the end of 2020.

However, it has been delayed due to the ongoing health crisis in the country. However, now that the Indian car market is on the path of recovery, so are all pending car launches. The EV market is very small, so electric vehicle launches have been much slower than that. However, electric mobility continues to grow in our country and Tata Motors wants to maintain its lead in this segment.

Tata Motors had showcased the pre-production model of the Altroz ​​EV at the 2020 Auto Expo. It was then claimed to have a range of 250 km to 300 km on a single charge, although its technical specifications were not disclosed. The manufacturer is expected to offer the same range as the Nexon EV, while getting the same features as the regular model.

Tata Altroz ​​will get features as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, semi-digital instrument console (with 7-inch MID), automatic climate control, Zconnect connected car tech, etc. On the safety front, the car is expected to get six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking camera, TPMS, ABS with EBD etc.

The Tata Altroz ​​EV will be positioned between the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV in Tata Motors’ electric portfolio in India when launched, with an estimated starting price of around ₹12-13 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will not have any direct rival in the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, the company will launch the Tigor EV Max on the lines of the Bharat Nexon EV Max, with some additional features and an increased range over the current model.
