Tesla launches Switch & Save Carnival across India.

Published:

Tesla has announced its Switch & Save Carnival to run from October 23 to 25, 2026, at its experience centers across India. The event aims to make the Model Y more accessible to potential buyers, with indicative monthly payments starting at ₹39,990 and an effective monthly ownership cost of ₹19,990 based on a down payment of ₹6 lakh after estimated fuel and maintenance savings.

The three-day carnival running from 11 am to 8 pm will allow customers to explore the Model Y and Model YL, compare their features and evaluate the ownership cost. Tesla will also offer on-the-spot vehicle exchange valuation, financing through its preferred banking partners at the experience centers and a complimentary Tesla Wall Connector with every car purchased during the event.

Tesla Model Y ownership cost details

As part of the campaign, Tesla is highlighting the potential cost savings associated with switching from a petrol or diesel vehicle to an electric SUV. The company aims to demonstrate how lower operating and maintenance expenses can offset a portion of the monthly financing costs.

Ownership Cost Factors Indicative AmountDown Payment₹6,00,000Monthly Payment₹39,990Estimated Monthly Fuel and Maintenance Saving₹20,000Effective Monthly Ownership Cost₹19,990

According to Tesla, the indicative monthly payment of ₹39,990 puts the Model Y within the financing range of some well-equipped petrol SUVs. The company estimates that customers can save around ₹20,000 per month on fuel and maintenance, bringing the effective monthly ownership cost down to ₹19,990.

These savings are based on Tesla’s stated assumptions regarding vehicle energy consumption, electricity charges, fuel efficiency and servicing costs. Actual savings will vary depending on driving distance, electricity prices, fuel costs and vehicle usage.

Low maintenance costs and over-the-air updates

Tesla is also highlighting the potential maintenance benefits of the Model Y compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Electric SUVs do not require traditional engine oil changes or spark plug replacements, while regenerative braking can reduce wear on brake components.

Over-the-air software updates allow Tesla to introduce software improvements and additional features remotely, reducing the need for dealership visits for supported updates.

The company is positioning these benefits, along with potential savings on fuel and regular servicing, as key considerations for buyers evaluating the total cost of ownership of an electric SUV.

Exchange offers, financing and complimentary wall connectors

Customers visiting the Tesla Experience Center during the Switch & Save Carnival can get on-the-spot exchange valuation for their existing vehicles. Financing arrangements will be available through Tesla’s preferred banking partners at the locations, allowing potential buyers to explore payment options during their visit.

Tesla will also include a complimentary wall connector with every vehicle purchased during Carnival, and add a home-charging component to the ownership package.

Financing Terms and Savings Assumptions

Tesla says the advertised monthly payment is indicative and subject to approval by the financier. The down payment and monthly installments quoted are based on a loan tenure of seven years, an annual percentage rate (APR) of 8.5% and a step-up EMI plan. Actual payouts may vary, and other terms and conditions apply.

The company’s estimated savings calculations use a Model Y energy consumption figure of 14.3 kWh per 100 km, a comparable vehicle fuel-efficiency estimate of 8 km/litre, an electricity charge of ₹7 per kWh and a servicing cost estimate of ₹2 per kilometre.

The effective monthly ownership cost of ₹19,990 is calculated by subtracting the estimated ₹20,000 in monthly fuel and maintenance savings from the stated ₹39,990 monthly payment. This represents the estimated net cost rather than the actual EMI payable to the financier.

Through the Switch & Save Carnival, Tesla wants to highlight the potential affordability of electric SUV ownership by combining financing options, exchange offers, home-charging equipment and low running costs. The campaign gives potential buyers the opportunity to assess the Model Y range and evaluate whether switching to an electric vehicle suits their budget and driving needs.
