The combined business has annual revenues of approximately €21 billion (over ₹2.28 lakh crore) and annual sales of approximately 590,000 vehicles.

The enterprise operates 27 manufacturing facilities and 25 research and development centres, supported by a network of over 9,300 sales and service centres. Based on sales volume in the commercial vehicle segment above 6-tonne, the combined entity ranks as the fourth largest commercial vehicle manufacturer globally.

The formal announcement was made at a global press conference in Turin, Italy on Tuesday. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, Tata Motors and Iveco Group, said the combination brings together two organizations with complementary product portfolios and a shared commitment to advancing sustainable mobility.

The joint venture employs more than 73,000 people across six continents, with operations spanning Europe, India, South America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Complementary Commercial Vehicle Portfolio and Technologies

The combination brings together Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle portfolio, ranging from sub-1-tonne cargo vehicles to 55-tonne trucks, offering seating capacity from 10 to 51 passengers, with mass mobility solutions.

IVECO Group contributes its light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles as well as city and intercity buses. Its powertrain business, FPT, provides applications in on-road and off-road vehicles, marine operations and power generation.

The joint technology portfolio spans conventional internal combustion engines, natural gas, battery-electric and hydrogen-based powertrains as well as other low- and zero-emission mobility solutions.

Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Motors, said the combination will help accelerate innovation and broaden customer reach by leveraging shared engineering, technology, sourcing, distribution and customer networks.

IVECO will retain its identity and Turin headquarters

Iveco Group will continue to operate from its headquarters in Turin, Italy, while maintaining its existing brands, teams and industrial footprint. Tata Motors will support Iveco Group’s existing strategy and investment plans, while both businesses explore opportunities to benefit from their complementary capabilities.

The companies also confirmed that existing customer contracts, dealer and supplier relationships, warranties, aftermarket commitments and captive financing solutions will remain unchanged. Existing teams and networks will continue to support customers and business partners throughout the transition.

Iveco Group CEO Olof Persson said the combination will enable the company to build on its established capabilities while exploring new opportunities with Tata Motors.

Focus on operational continuity and global growth

The companies said their immediate priority will be to ensure business continuity across their operations and maintain existing customer and partner relationships.

In the long term, the joint venture will focus on expanding customer choice, accelerating technology development and strengthening its position in the global commercial mobility markets.

With complementary product portfolios, engineering capabilities and geographic reach, the combination is expected to create a comprehensive platform to serve commercial vehicle customers in established and emerging markets.
