The new S1Z range is available with 3.1kWh and 5.1kWh battery options, offering a claimed IDC range of up to 179 km and 301 km respectively.
Ola Electric has launched its new S1Z mass-market electric scooter range in India, marking the commercial rollout of its in-house developed Bharat Cell Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology.
The S1Z is offered in two battery configurations – 3.1kWh and 5.1kWh – with starting prices of ₹79,999 and ₹99,999 (ex-showroom) respectively. Ola Electric claims that the 3.1kWh variant can offer an IDC range of up to 179 km, while the 5.1kWh variant can offer a range of up to 301 km on a single charge.
Ola S1Z gets Bharat Cell LFP technology
The S1Z uses Ola Electric’s 46-series LFP cell platform, which is manufactured at the company’s Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu. The company says local cell production will help reduce battery costs, which form a significant part of the total cost of an EV, while the savings can be passed on to customers.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric, said the S1Z demonstrates the company’s focus on bringing its indigenous battery technology to the mass market and expanding EV adoption across India.
Ola S1Z to feature MoveOS 5
The S1Z runs on Ola Electric’s MoveOS 5 software and offers features like cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, reverse mode and easy park.
Deliveries of the 3.1kWh variant are scheduled to begin in December 2026, while deliveries of the 5.1kWh version are expected to begin in March 2027.
Ola Electric expands retail network
The S1Z launch comes at a time when Ola Electric is preparing to change its retail strategy. The company plans to introduce its first partner and dealer-operated stores along with its existing direct-to-consumer retail network.
With the S1Z, Ola Electric aims to strengthen its presence in the mass market electric scooter segment while leveraging its locally developed battery technology to offer more competitive pricing.
