Sales of sedan cars increased by 10% in June 2026

Information has revealed that a total of 31,183 sedan cars were sold across the country in June 2026, whereas in June 2025 this figure was only 28,335 units. Which simply means that an annual growth of 10.05 percent has been recorded in this segment. The sale of a total of 2,848 additional units indicates that Indian customers are still preferring sedan cars for style, comfort and better driving experience.

Maruti Dzire shines, captures 57% market alone

It is clearly seen in the figures that Maruti Suzuki Dzire recorded sales of 17,899 units in June 2026, which is 15.60 percent more than last year. In this list, only Dzire has captured 57.40 percent share of the entire sedan segment. This figure clearly shows that Maruti Suzuki’s hold in the compact sedan segment is still very strong. Hyundai Aura stood at second place with 5,977 units sold, which shows an increase of 10.42 percent in its annual sales.

Honda Amaze becomes the fastest growing sedan

Honda Amaze, which was at number three in the list, has impressed everyone the most. In the figures of June 2026, it is seen that 2,937 units were sold which is 29.16 percent more than last year. This marks the biggest year-on-year growth among all the volume sedans on this list.

Apart from this, the name of Volkswagen Virtus is also included in the list, whose sales fell by 32.79 percent to 1,195 units, which is being seen as the biggest decline. But Virtus still remains at the top position in the mid-size sedan segment. On the other hand, Skoda Slavia has sold 1,083 units with a growth of 20.87 percent.

These sedan cars also had mixed performance

Apart from this, it can be seen that 745 units of Honda City were sold in the list and a slight increase of 5.08 percent was recorded. At the same time, sales of Tata Tigor/Tigor EV have declined to 602 units. Not only this, there was a decline of 31.86 percent in the sales of Hyundai Verna while Toyota Camry has achieved a slight increase of 6.11 percent with the sale of 191 units.

In such a situation, looking at the figures of June 2026, it is clearly visible that the demand for SUVs is increasing rapidly but sedan cars still remain the first choice of Indian customers due to their right price, better mileage and reliable brand value.
