Ather Energy has started rolling out its new Pothole+ Alert feature for the Gen 2 and new electric scooters including the Ather 450 Apex, Ather 450X and Rizta Z. The intelligent safety feature leverages connected vehicle data and road intelligence to alert riders about upcoming road hazards during active navigation.

The system is designed to detect potholes, damaged road surfaces, uneven patches and speed breakers ahead and notify riders. Alerts are displayed visually on the scooter’s dashboard, while audio notifications can be delivered through the scooter’s speakers, the Ather Halo smart helmet, or a paired Bluetooth headset, helping riders stay focused on the road.

Powered by Ather’s onboard computing platform and connected vehicle ecosystem, the feature continuously improves by analyzing aggregated data collected from the company’s growing fleet of connected scooters. This enables more accurate threat detection and timely alerts to riders.

Announcing the rollout in a post on He said developing the Pothole+ Alert system required building a robust dataset from Ather’s connected fleet to accurately identify and map road hazards, which is another step in the company’s efforts to enhance rider safety through software-driven innovation.
