BYD India expands CSR with education, healthcare projects

BYD India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of BYD, the world’s No. 1 new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, announced the successful implementation of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative focused on strengthening education, healthcare and environmental sustainability in Tamil Nadu. Implemented in partnership with FEEED NGO, the initiative includes the inauguration of School Infrastructure Development Project at Government Panchayat Union Primary School, Keevalur Village, Sriperumbudur; Support for health care infrastructure at Uthirameram Government Hospital in Kanchipuram district through provision of advanced hospital equipment and tree plantation drive to promote green communities.

These initiatives reflect BYD India’s commitment to creating long-term social impact by investing in essential community infrastructure that improves the quality of life and contributes to sustainable development.

As part of its education-focused initiative, BYD India will support the development of a government school by improving the overall campus infrastructure and facilities and providing learning tools and guidance. Interventions are designed to enhance the safety, accessibility, and quality of the learning environment, contributing to a more stable and supportive space for students and teachers. This initiative reflects BYD’s belief that strong infrastructure plays a vital role in enabling better educational outcomes.

The school will provide a brighter, safer and more conducive environment for learning, directly benefiting approximately 200 students, while also creating long-term value for future generations who will study at the institute. This upgraded structure includes an enhanced working environment for teachers through redesigned classrooms, canteens and improved teaching spaces. These enhancements are aimed at enabling better classroom engagement, improved learning outcomes and greater motivation among teachers.

Apart from education, BYD India’s CSR program has also strengthened the healthcare infrastructure in Kanchipuram district. In the healthcare sector, BYD India has provided upgraded hospital beds to support better treatment and recovery conditions at Uthiramerur Government Hospital in Kanchipuram. This intervention aims to assist healthcare professionals in providing better care while improving comfort and safety for patients.

Complementing these initiatives, BYD India also conducted a tree planting campaign in collaboration with FEEED NGO, contributing to the greening of community spaces and reinforcing the company’s broader sustainability philosophy. This initiative reflects BYD’s commitment to environmental stewardship by promoting biodiversity and creating a healthy environment for future generations.

The School Infrastructure Development Project is part of BYD India’s broader CSR program that focuses on strengthening education, healthcare and community infrastructure through need-based interventions. The company continues to work closely with implementing partners and local stakeholders to ensure that projects are executed efficiently and deliver measurable long-term results.

The initiative aligns with BYD’s global sustainability philosophy of “Technological Innovation for a Better Life”, extending the company’s commitment to responsible social development and community empowerment beyond electric mobility.

Globally, BYD has sold more than 16.5 million new energy vehicles, reducing more than 144 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to the CO2 emissions absorbed by approximately 2.4 billion trees in a year. The company continues to strengthen its global leadership in sustainable mobility while having a positive environmental and social impact.
