Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Youdha has introduced a new electric garbage van designed for municipal corporations, sanitation service providers and private garbage collection operators. The launch comes as urban local bodies are increasingly adopting electric mobility solutions to improve efficiency and sustainability in waste management operations.
The electric garbage van is engineered for urban and semi-urban garbage collection applications and is powered by a 10 kW AC induction motor with an 11.8 kWh battery pack. According to the company, the vehicle offers a certified driving range of up to 167 km on a single charge and can achieve a top speed of 48 kmph.
The vehicle can be fully charged in about four to five hours and has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 1,200 kg with a payload capacity of 700 kg. It is equipped with a waste collection container measuring 2,300 mm x 1,481 mm x 1,420 mm, enabling the transportation of both wet and dry waste streams.
Additional features include a digital instrument cluster, a fully enclosed driver cabin and 215 mm ground clearance, making it suitable for various operating conditions encountered during municipal waste collection activities.
Commenting on the launch, Ayush Lohia, Chief Executive Officer, Youdha, said the company aims to support cleaner and more efficient waste management systems through sustainable mobility solutions. He said the growing demand for environmentally responsible waste collection vehicles is creating opportunities for electric commercial vehicles in the sanitation sector.
The company said the electric garbage van has been developed to help reduce emissions, reduce fuel costs and improve operational efficiency for waste management agencies. As municipalities and private operators move towards cleaner transportation solutions, electric utility vehicles are expected to play an increasingly important role in India’s evolving waste management ecosystem.
