    Tata Power, one of India’s leading electric vehicle charging networks, today announced the commissioning of a 60 kW DC fast charging station at Sri Krishna Cafe in Bannikuppe, strategically located along the Mysore-Madikeri Expressway (NH-275).

    The new charging station is strategically located on NH-275, a key corridor connecting Bengaluru and Mysore with Kodagu (Corg), strengthening electric vehicle infrastructure along one of the busiest tourist routes in Karnataka. The charging station provides EV travelers heading to Coorg with a convenient high-speed charging station to enable them to recharge before continuing their journey to the Kodagu hill region.

    Main highlights

    Strategic Highway Location: Located on NH-275 at Bannikuppe, Hunsur, this charging station is a convenient stop for electric vehicle users between Bengaluru, Mysuru and Coorg. Its location will help improve charging facilities along major tourist and commercial corridors in Karnataka. High-speed charging: The station is equipped with a 60-kilowatt DC dual-gun CCS2 charger, which can charge compatible electric vehicles from 20% to 80% in about 30 minutes, reducing charging time for long-distance travel. Convenient Charging Experience: The charging station is located at Sri Krishna Cafe, allowing travelers to take a short break while their vehicle is charging and enjoy food, refreshments and basic travel amenities. Seamless digital access: The charger is integrated with the Tata Power EZ Charge ecosystem, allowing users to locate charging stations, monitor charger availability, initiate charging sessions and make cashless payments through the Tata Power EZ Charge mobile app or RFID card. Supporting Sustainable Transport: The addition of this charging station further strengthens the EV charging network along the Bengaluru-Mysuru-Corg corridor, improving charging convenience for EV users traveling to one of Karnataka’s key tourist destinations while supporting wider adoption of electric mobility.

    The deployment reinforces Tata Power’s commitment to expand high-capacity green corridors along key economic and tourism routes across southern India.

    UltraViolet and Bolt.Earth expand EV fast-charging network

    UltraViolet and Bolt.Earth have expanded their Type-6 DC fast-charging network across India, with over 130 chargers installed – more than double the initial target of 50 units announced during the launch of their partnership in March 2026. The companies also plan to add another 200 chargers in the next two months as part of their efforts to strengthen fast-charging infrastructure for electric two-wheelers.

    The charging network is currently operational in seven Indian states – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal – covering major cities, highway routes and emerging EV adoption areas. The chargers are compatible with UltraViolet’s UltraViolet F77 and X-47 motorcycle platforms and can be accessed through both the UltraViolet and Bolt.Earth applications. Features include real-time charger detection, charging session monitoring and integrated digital payment system.

    The companies have adopted an interoperable charging model, allowing riders to access the network through any platform without relying on separate charging ecosystems. This approach aims to address one of the key challenges in India’s EV infrastructure landscape – fragmented charging standards and platforms that often create inconvenience for EV users.

    The expansion comes as India’s electric two-wheeler market is growing rapidly, supported by increased EV adoption and increased policy focus on reducing dependence on imported crude oil. Commenting on the development, Neeraj Rajmohan said the charging infrastructure rollout is in line with the broader national need for flexible electricity-led mobility solutions amid global crude oil price volatility.

    The deployment includes both newly installed chargers and upgrades to existing Bolt.Earth charging points to support Ultraviolette motorcycles. According to Mohit Yadav, the company aims to deploy 10,000 Type-6 DC fast chargers over the next two years, creating one of India’s largest dedicated fast-charging networks for electric two-wheelers.

    Unlike conventional AC chargers, which typically require several hours to charge electric two-wheelers, the Type-6 DC fast-charging standard significantly reduces charging time, helping to address range and charging access concerns for riders traveling long distances.

    Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Bengaluru, UltraViolet is backed by investors including TVS Motor Company, Qualcomm Ventures, TDK Ventures and Zoho Corporation. The company also became the first Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer to receive European certification and currently exports motorcycles to 12 countries in Europe, including Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom.

    Founded in 2017, Bolt.Earth currently operates over 100,000 chargers across 2,000 Indian cities, supporting electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers through its open charging network model.
