Kia EV6 will launch in India, booking started

Kia India is all set to introduce its first electric vehicle in the country and now the company has opened the bookings for its new EV6 electric crossover with a token amount of Rs.3 lakh. The all-electric car will be sold exclusively through 15 select dealerships across 12 cities in India.

Buyers can also book its booking online on the company’s website. The new EV6 has been developed on the brand’s electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which will form the basis of the company’s other electric cars in the future. The company will launch this new electric car in India on June 2, 2022. However, initially only 100 units will be available in India and it will be brought to the country via the CBU route.

Speaking on the occasion, Tae-Jin Park , MD & CEO, Kia India said that the Indian automotive industry is changing and Kia is at the forefront of this transformation. Time and again we have proved this through our world class products and services which also meet all the requirements of the Indian buyers.

He said that the Kia EV EV6 is a wonderful combination of bold design, progressive engineering, innovative technology and exciting electric performance. We are sure that our customers will appreciate the best Kia offering that we are getting in the market. For buyers, this booking will be on a first come, first served basis.

The model gets the brand new ‘Opposites United’ design language and will be available in India in exclusive trims called GT Line. The Kia EV6 gets ultra-fast charging and its battery pack can be charged up to 10-80 percent in just 18 minutes using a 350KWh charger. For India, the Kia EV6 has been given a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is available in two trims.

The rear-wheel drive variant uses a single motor that produces 226 Bhp of power, while the all-wheel drive variant develops 321 Bhp of power. The company claims that its battery pack gives a range of up to 528 km (WLTP cycle-rated) in the RWD version and 425 km in the AWD version once fully charged. The Kia EV6 gets multiple driving modes, which include Normal, Sport and Eco, along with smart regenerative braking.

The electric car has also been equipped with many modern features and it will be equipped with dual 12.3-inch curved display, Meridian sound system with 14 speakers, electric sunroof, Augmented Reality (AR) head-up display, powered tailgate and advanced driver assistance system (DRAS). ADAS) etc. have been given. Let us tell you that the Hyundai Ionic 5 is also based on the same platform as the EV6 and Hyundai is also planning to launch the Ionic 5 this year.
