VECV opens new manufacturing facility in Bhopal, starts deliveries of Eicher Pro X series –

VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), the joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has opened a dedicated manufacturing facility and delivered the first batch of Eicher Pro X trucks to a gathering of India’s leading logistics providers gathered in Bhopal. Prior to this, the Eicher Pro X small truck was successfully launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The new factory, located at VECV’s Industry 4.0-compliant Bhopal plant, was jointly inaugurated by Volvo Group President and CEO Martin Lundstedt and Siddhartha Lal, Chairman of Eicher Motors Ltd and VECV Board Member.

At this brand-new facility, vehicles rolling off the all-female final assembly line are delivered to leaders in India’s rapidly transforming logistics industry.

Commenting on the event, Volvo Group President and CEO Martin Lundstedt said: “Every time I visit India, I am amazed by the rapid development of the country, including the transformation towards sustainable and modern logistics and public transportation. I am honored to inaugurate this state-of-the-art facility and deliver the first Eicher Pro X trucks to a customer who is redefining logistics in India.”

Eicher’s Bhopal plant, inaugurated in 2020, is India’s first commercial vehicle plant built in accordance with Industry 4.0 principles. The 147.8-acre facility has a capacity of 80,000 trucks per year and integrates IoT automation, smart manufacturing and AI-driven analytics for accuracy and efficiency. The facility also features an all-female assembly line, reinforcing Eichel’s commitment to diversity in the workplace. Sustainability is a focus, including renewable energy, efficient waste management and dedicated infrastructure for electric vehicle manufacturing.
