Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), the electric vehicle arm of Jupiter Group, has launched its flagship model JEM TEZ and opened a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Indore, marking an important milestone in India’s transformation towards sustainable mobility. This significant event not only highlights JEM’s commitment to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, but also positions the company as a major player in the electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) space.

At the heart of this milestone is the JEM TEZ, an advanced electric light commercial vehicle with industry-leading specifications including over 190km of real-world range, 80kW peak motor power and 23% gradeability. With a certified payload of 1.05 tonnes, JEM TEZ is designed to address the challenges of last-mile logistics and urban freight. Its fast charging capability enables it to restore over 100 kilometers of range in just one hour using any CCS2 charger, making it a game-changer in the segment. The car has a starting showroom price of Rs 10.35 lakh and is positioned as an affordable option with market-leading features.

The newly completed manufacturing plant covers an area of 2.5 acres and is designed to produce 8,000-10,000 electric vehicles per year. The plant plans to expand its capacity in a phased manner, aiming to meet the growing demand for sustainable last-mile logistics solutions. The plant is in line with India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Vision@2047’ initiatives, further contributing to the country’s goals of reducing import dependence and increasing domestic electric vehicle manufacturing.

Mr. Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Group, said at the inauguration ceremony: “We aim to set new benchmarks in the electric vehicle industry while driving economic growth, infrastructure development and job creation.” He emphasized that the company aims to achieve revenue of Rs 100 crore in the first year of operations and expects to grow at least 2 times year-on-year. Jupiter Electric Mobility’s integrated ecosystem ensures reliability and sustainability for commercial fleet operators, reflecting its commitment to innovation and a cleaner, greener future.

National expansion strategy and key market promotions

The company’s nationwide expansion strategy includes launching JEM TEZ across states, with an initial focus on key markets such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. JEM has also entered into strategic partnerships with key industry players such as Porter, Pulse Energy and Tapfin to develop an integrated EV ecosystem including charging infrastructure, financing solutions and after-sales support. These collaborations are expected to expand JEM’s market share and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in India.

JEM TEZ’S INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY AND CONNECTIONS

The company’s innovations extend beyond vehicle design and manufacturing processes. JEM has developed a robust ecosystem of technology and connectivity. The vehicle integrates telematics and real-time vehicle diagnostics, enabling preventive maintenance and seamless communication with fleet operators. “Our vehicles are fully connected. We have integrated telematics and vehicle diagnostics to provide real-time data to our data center,” Mr. Vivek explained. Additionally, the high-voltage platform has an actual range of approximately 190 kilometers, a significant improvement over the 115-120 kilometers that competing vehicles typically offer.

However, despite the huge growth potential, Mr Vivek also acknowledged the challenges facing the electric vehicle industry. Consumer education and charging infrastructure remain significant barriers to widespread EV adoption. “The biggest challenge is charging infrastructure, which is currently insufficient beyond two or three cities. The government is committed to solving this problem through initiatives such as FAME III,” he noted, expressing optimism that improvements in infrastructure will accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.

JEM’s approach to after-sales service is also a key differentiator. The company developed the JEM Drishti system, a proprietary telematics platform that remotely monitors vehicle performance, driver behavior and payload conditions. The system helps operators maximize efficiency and minimize downtime, which is crucial in the logistics industry.

As JEM continues to grow, the company has ambitious plans for future expansion. “We are targeting to launch 2-ton and 3-ton vehicles this year, as well as passenger car versions of the 1-ton vehicle. We aim to offer a complete product range in this category,” shared Mr. Vivek. This diversification will meet the changing needs of the market, especially in the last mile logistics sector.

Meanwhile, Mr. Vikash Lohia, Deputy Managing Director, Jupiter Group, highlighted the importance of the new plant, saying, “It is a very surreal feeling to contribute to the development of green transportation in India, which I think is very important. So we are very excited.” He outlined that the initial capacity of the plant will be 8,000 to 10,000 vehicles per year, with a slow ramp-up strategy to ensure a solid foundation for customer service. “We believe in building ourselves, and we believe in customer service first,” he added, demonstrating the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

JEM’s future vision includes expanding its product portfolio and launching new variants to meet the evolving market needs. Mr Vikash also highlighted the company’s long-term plans to build more advanced facilities with a focus on innovation and robotics. “We will have a new factory, much larger than our current one in Pithampur, and there will be greater advancements in robotics,” he said of the company’s growth strategy in the coming years.

As JEM embarks on its journey to become India’s leader in electric commercial vehicles, the company remains focused on sustainability, customer-centric innovation and technological advancement. With its focus on reducing India’s dependence on imports, enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities and creating an integrated EV ecosystem, Jupiter Electric is poised to drive the country’s transformation towards clean and sustainable transportation. “We believe in innovation and for us, customer comes first,” concluded Mr. Vikash, underscoring the company’s customer-first approach as it scales its operations in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market.
