The AMG E 53 Hybrid is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 330 kW, coupled with a 120 kW electric motor integrated into the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G transmission. Combined system output is 430 kW (or 585 hp) and 750 Nm of torque, which can be increased to 450 kW and 612 hp with the race start function. The result is acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed that is electronically limited to 250 km/h, extendable to 280 km/h with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.
The 400-volt battery with a total capacity of 28.6 kWh and a usable capacity of 21.2 kWh enables pure electric driving speeds of up to 140 km/h and a pure electric range of more than 100 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. An 11 kW on-board AC charger is standard and can also charge the battery through regenerative braking. Drivers can choose between seven driving modes, including two hybrid-specific programs – Electric and Battery Hold – as well as the familiar AMG Dynamic Select options: Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Coasting and Individual.
Handling is managed by AMG Ride Control suspension tuned specifically for this model, AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and Active Rear Axle Steering, which turns the rear wheels up to 2.5 degrees in either direction depending on speed, improving agility below 90 km/h and stability above 90 km/h. The electromechanical brake booster seamlessly blends regenerative and hydraulic braking without the driver noticing the transition.
On the outside, the AMG E 53 Hybrid features a illuminated AMG-specific radiator grille, wider front fenders, Turbo Hybrid lettering and E 53 badge with red surround at the rear, quad round tailpipes and 20-inch matt black AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels with a high-gloss finish. Six exterior colors are available. The interior of the car comes standard with AMG sports seats made of ARTICO artificial leather with red contrasting topstitching, an MBUX infotainment system equipped with an AMG-specific display, including AMG Performance and AMG Track Pace menus, and a Burmester 4D surround sound system with 17 speakers, 4 exciters and a 730-watt output that supports Dolby Atmos playback.
