Mercedes-Benz India achieved a record first-half sales performance, with retail sales of 9,768 units between January and June 2026, up 9% from 9,013 units in the same period last year. The company also reported its best-ever second-quarter results, with 4,637 units retailed between April and June 2026, up 10% from 4,238 units in the second quarter of 2025. The strong performance was driven by new and existing products, network upgrades and a differentiated customer experience, as well as support from a positive macroeconomic environment.

Mr. Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “Mercedes-Benz’s strong growth in the first half of 2026 underlines the success of our strategy, which is rooted in delivering desirable products, enhancing customer experience and transforming our network in a more customer-friendly manner. New V-Class and CLA BEV It drove our best-ever sales in the first half and second quarter, underpinning superior product substance and reaffirming Mercedes customers’ preference for value over entry price.”

“The success of the new CLA BEV proves that Mercedes-Benz customers prefer to own the latest technology, with the car sold out within days of its launch and customers being willing to wait 5-6 months to be the proud owner of a truly unique and ‘one of a kind’ car. CLA BEV drives Mercedes-Benz’s BEV penetration to 14% in the second quarter of 2026.”

“Preference for our Topend vehicles has increased in the first half of 2026, with TEV share now reaching an all-time high of 28%, driven by the launch and growing demand of the new V-Class and a 50% growth trajectory across the AMG portfolio.”

The premium luxury car segment, which includes the V-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS SUV and AMG range, grew by more than 20% in the first half of 2026, reflecting the growth of India’s ultra-high net worth population and interest among younger buyers to purchase premium Mercedes-Benz models outright. 28% of all Mercedes-Benz cars sold in India in the first half of 2026 were high-end luxury cars, and for iconic products like the AMG G 63, the waiting period for some models ranges from four months to up to a year.

The core segments (including C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC and GLE) continue to make a significant contribution to total sales. The E-Class long-wheelbase model, in particular, maintained its position as India’s top-selling luxury car in both the first half and second quarter of 2026, and has maintained this distinction ever since.

The entry-level luxury car segment recorded strong growth of 29% in the second quarter of 2026, driven by the launch of the all-new CLA BEV and continued demand for the GLA SUV. The CLA BEV was snapped up within days of launch, with customers willing to wait five to six months for delivery, underscoring the model’s appeal.

In terms of electric vehicles, Mercedes-Benz’s pure electric vehicle portfolio accounted for 14% of total retail sales in the second quarter of 2026, led by the CLA BEV in the entry-luxury car market and the EQS SUV in the high-end market. CLA BEV is also gaining momentum globally, winning the European Car of the Year 2026 award. The company’s semi-electric lineup is also growing in popularity, with pre-orders already closed for the new S-Class plug-in hybrid in the AMG range, while orders for the Exclusive range are filling ahead of deliveries over the festive period.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz India has ambitious network expansion plans in the second half of 2026. The company plans to set up more than 20 new luxury car stores in high-potential emerging markets while strengthening its presence in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi NCR. Mercedes-Benz has added six new touchpoints in Bengaluru, Bhopal, Raipur, Goa and Visakhapatnam in the first half of 2026 and will debut in new markets such as Varanasi and strengthen its footprint in Pune and Hyderabad in the second half of 2026. Mercedes-Benz franchise partners will invest over Rs 450 crore over the next two years to support this expansion and will continue to focus on upgrading existing facilities to global luxury standards and exploring artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence technologies.
