JSW MG Motor India announced the launch of Season 6.0 of the MG Developer Program and Grants (MGDP) in partnership with DPIIT, reinforcing its commitment to accelerate innovation and strengthen the Indian startup ecosystem. Building on the success of previous editions, the theme for Season 6 is “Automotive Innovation” and will focus on future-oriented mobility solutions.
Season 6.0 invites startups to showcase innovations in multiple categories, including logistics and supply chain, automotive artificial intelligence, V2X intelligence, sustainability and circular economy, vehicle technology, connected services, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and manufacturing. Entries will be evaluated based on their uniqueness and real-world applicability by an esteemed panel of senior leaders and experts from leading businesses, academic institutions and industry bodies.
Speaking on the occasion, JSW MG Motor India Managing Director Anurag Mehrotra said that innovation remains the cornerstone of the company’s India vision and the organization remains committed to nurturing this vision through multiple initiatives. He added that the new version of MGDP is designed to support start-ups in the fields of new energy, autonomous driving and connected mobility technologies, with the larger goal of enhancing customer experience through meaningful technological advancements.
Sanjiv Singh, joint secretary, DPIIT, noted that Startup India is committed to supporting initiatives that foster collaboration, create opportunities for young talent and drive innovation in India. He added that the partnership with JSW MG Motor India reflects the mutual commitment to nurturing future talent and promoting a culture of solving real problems.
Selected participants will receive mentorship from JSW MG Motor India and its ecosystem partners, as well as development support, testing opportunities and potential funding at the discretion of the jury. Applications for Season 6.0 are now open and will close on April 30, 2026. Shortlisted teams will undergo a mentoring phase until Demo Day on June 1, 2026.
The MG Developer Program and Grants were launched in 2019 in collaboration with MG ecosystem partners and technology leaders to foster breakthrough solutions in the urban mobility space in India.
In the first five seasons, MGDP has received more than 1,550 entries, with more than 290 teams shortlisted in the first round. The teams are mentored by over 100 experts, including JSW MG Motor India’s leadership and its technology partners, making it one of the largest mentoring programs in the automotive industry. To date, MGDP has selected 51 start-ups and is conducting various pilot projects.
