TVS Motor Company has crossed the milestone of retailing one million electric scooters in India, becoming the second electric two-wheeler manufacturer in the country to achieve this feat after Ola Electric.
As per vehicle registration data till June 11, 2026, the Chennai-based manufacturer has cumulatively sold 10,04,148 electric scooters in the domestic market, which includes the popular TVS iQube and the recently introduced TVS Orbiter.
From slow start to market leadership
TVS launched the iQube in January 2020 and experienced gradual growth initially. It took more than three years to achieve the first 100,000 retail sales. However, as India’s electric two-wheeler market gained momentum, TVS increased its pace significantly, adding the next 100,000 units in just 10 months.
The company crossed the 300,000 unit sales mark in early April 2024, approximately 52 months after launch. Growth accelerated dramatically thereafter, with sales increasing from 300,000 to 700,000 units in just 17 months. The jump from 700,000 to 800,000 units was achieved in just three months between October and December 2025.
Strongest market share ever in 2026
TVS has continuously strengthened its position in the Indian electric two-wheeler market. The company’s market share reached 20% in CY2023 and is expected to increase to around 26% in CY2026, its highest share till date.
While the iCube continues to contribute the majority of sales, the newly launched Orbiter has also started contributing meaningfully to the company’s growth trajectory.
Record breaking sales pace
The first half of 2026 has been particularly strong for TVS. Between January 1 and June 11, the company sold 219,232 electric scooters, with the latest 100,000-unit milestone achieved in just 75 days.
This means that on an average, around 1,333 electric scooters were sold every day between March 28 and June 10, highlighting the growing acceptance of TVS’s electric mobility offerings.
The company also recorded its highest ever monthly sales with deliveries of 51,605 units in May 2026. This performance is the second highest monthly sales volume recorded by an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, after Ola Electric’s record of 53,647 units in May 2024.
After topping the monthly electric two-wheeler sales chart for the first time in April 2025, TVS has maintained its lead over rivals including Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, Ola Electric and Greaves Electric Mobility.
Accelerating India’s electric two-wheeler development
TVS Motor has emerged as one of the major contributors to the rapid expansion of India’s electric two-wheeler industry. With Bajaj Auto, the company has played a key role in increasing volumes in a market that now comprises over 175 manufacturers.
The transformation of this section has been remarkable. From just 1,516 electric two-wheelers sold a decade ago, representing a negligible 0.008% share in India’s overall two-wheeler market, the category has evolved into one of the fastest growing mobility segments in the country.
Between January and June 10, 2026, sales of electric two-wheelers reached 837,961 units, showing a strong growth of 63% year-on-year. Electric two-wheelers now account for 8.26% of India’s total two-wheeler sales, up from 10.14 million units during the same period.
Electric two-wheelers continue to dominate India’s EV ecosystem, contributing 63% of total EV sales so far in CY2026, ahead of electric three-wheelers (27%), passenger EVs (9%) and electric commercial vehicles (1%).
TVS’s rapid rise
TVS’s market share has increased significantly since entering this segment. From selling only 234 units in CY2020, representing 1% market share, the company increased its share to 8% in CY2022 with sales of 50,181 units.
The breakthrough came in CY2023 and CY2024 when TVS achieved 20% market share while registering sales of 177,024 units and 237,096 units respectively.
CY2025 proved to be a defining year for the company. TVS sold 315,083 electric scooters, becoming the industry’s leading player since April, and contributing to record annual sales of 1.34 million units in the electric two-wheeler market.
During the same year, Bajaj Auto took the second position with 279,682 units, followed by Ather Energy with 214,982 units. Ola Electric retailed 204,514 units, while Hero Vida and Greaves Electric Mobility recorded sales of 113,023 units and 57,851 units, respectively.
Half million sales milestone within reach
With 219,232 electric scooters sold in the first five months and 10 days of 2026, TVS has achieved almost 70% of its total CY2025 sales volume.
At the current daily sales rate of around 1,361 units, the company is well positioned to achieve a new milestone of 500,000 annual electric scooter sales in CY2026.
Supported by rising consumer demand, rising fuel prices, expanding EV infrastructure and upcoming festive season sales, TVS Motor is set for another record-breaking year as India’s electric two-wheeler market continues on a rapid growth path.
