FADA EV Report: Nowadays, the popularity of electric vehicles is continuously increasing in India and its latest figures present a clear picture of this change. According to retail registration data of Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), 31,823 electric cars were sold across the country in June 2026. This is an impressive year-on-year growth of 107.75% compared to 15,318 units sold in June 2025.
The EV market has gained momentum not only on an annual basis but also on a monthly basis. It has been seen that while 26,682 electric cars were sold in May 2026, sales increased by 19.27% in June. This indicates that electric mobility is fast becoming a part of the mainstream in India.
Tata Motors becomes the king of the market
It is seen that in June 2026, Tata Motors maintained its dominance and recorded sales of 12,187 electric cars. The company has captured 38.30% market share. This figure is higher than last year in which Tata’s EV sales have increased by 126.73% while compared to May also an increase of about 18% has been recorded. Mahindra has secured second position by selling 7,766 units. In which the company’s Born Electric series is getting excellent response from the customers. Due to which its sales recorded an annual increase of 121.06% and monthly increase of 25.06%. The market share of the company was 24.40%.

MG, Maruti and VinFast also showed strong presence
At third place was JSW MG Motor which sold 5,861 electric cars in June and achieved 18.42% market share. Maruti Suzuki secured the fourth position by selling 1,919 units. This is being considered as the company’s first full year in the EV segment after the launch of eVitara. Meanwhile, Vietnamese company VinFast is also rapidly strengthening its hold in the Indian market. In June, the company recorded sales of 1,404 units. Apart from this, BYD (873), BMW (497), Kia (449), Hyundai (352) and Mercedes-Benz (234) also recorded good sales.

Tesla and Toyota also increased the stir
Along with this, in June 2026, Tesla retailed 37 units of its Model Y SUV while Volvo also sold 37 electric cars. At the same time, Toyota entered the EV sales figures for the first time with its new Urban Cruiser Ebella and recorded sales of 32 units. Regarding which experts believe that increasing charging infrastructure, new models and government incentives can give further impetus to the Indian EV market in the coming months.
