Transdev Nederland Holding has selected Solaris Bus & Coach as the supplier for an extraordinary order of 96 battery-powered buses. Delivery is scheduled for the last quarter of 2025.
The modern fleet of battery-powered Solaris buses will provide public transportation service in the province of Utrecht in the central Netherlands. Transdev Netherlands Holding is one of the largest operators in the Netherlands and a leader in zero-emission mobility. The order of 96 electric solaris buses is part of the company’s strategy to replace the entire fleet in Utrecht with zero-emission vehicles. Currently, 50 bus lines operate in the city, serving 30 million passengers annually.
The customer opted for the Solaris High Energy battery solution, known for its high capacity and ability to reduce the need for frequent recharging throughout the day.
Transdev Netherlands is already familiar with Solaris products. Its subsidiary, Connexion, operates a fleet of 20 Urbino 12 hydrogen buses powered by fuel cell technology in South Holland. Additionally, Solaris’ Trollino 18 trolleybuses in the distinctive Metrostyle design have been running in Arnhem for several months.
