Under the leadership of the Honorable Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) have signed an agreement to set up an electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery swapping stations at the DDA Sports Complex in the city.
CESL, a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) under the Ministry of Power, will lead the development of these permanent mobility solutions.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Vijay Kumar Singh, Vice President of DDA, Mr. Vishal Kapoor, MD and CEO-CESL, Mr. Chittaranjan Dash, Principal Commissioner, DDA, and Mr. Rajneesh Rana, Head-Constant. This cooperation is an important step towards increasing the EV infrastructure of the capital city and supporting India’s infection to clean mobility.
As part of the agreement, the DDA will provide sufficient empty land at locations identified within its sports complexes. CESL will use these sites to install and operate public charging infrastructure.
EV charging and battery swapping stations, identified for the establishment of North Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi, enable wide access to efficient charging facilities for EV users in the city.
Under the CESL business model, it will purchase services from the charge point operators (CPOs) for the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of EV charging and battery swapping stations, in accordance with the development of market conditions for the development of EV charging and battery swapping stations. These features will be deployed on a build-on-operate-production (boom) model, which will ensure sustainable and long-term EV infrastructure expansion.
By supporting this vision, CESL and DDA are contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable transport ecosystem in the city.
Commenting on cooperation, MD & CEO, CESL, Mr. Vishal Kapoor said: “The partnership between CESL and DDA is an important milestone in the EV journey of Delhi. By taking advantage of CESL’s expertise in apascling to clean energy solutions, we are creating a strong and accessible EV charging network that will rapidly run EV adoption. CESL is committed to pursue durable and scalable solutions that contribute to India’s decarbonation goals. ,
DDA Vice President Vijay Kumar Singh said, “The DDA is committed to enhancing the urban infrastructure and promoting stability. By integrating EV charging and battery swapping stations within our sports complex, we are optimizing the use of public places to facilitate green dynamics. This initiative aligns with our vision to make Delhi a more environmentally friendly and prepared city for future.
CESL has already set up 455 charging stations across India, which strengthens its commitment to accelerate e-dubility in India and to align with national vision for a cleaner and more durable transport ecosystem.
