Tata Motors bags over 3,400 ECV orders across key mobility segments

Published:

Tata Motors, India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer and mobility solutions provider, has announced that it has received orders for over 3,400 Electric Commercial Vehicles (ECVs) across multiple segments, highlighting the accelerating adoption of electric mobility across the country’s freight and passenger transport sectors.

The order book includes around 2,000 small commercial vehicles (SCVs) and pick-ups, around 900 electric trucks and around 500 electric buses. These vehicles will be deployed across a wide spectrum of applications including e-commerce, logistics, FMCG and FMCD distribution, intra-city transportation as well as more demanding operations in industries such as cement, steel, mining and airport tarmac services. The buses will support both inter-city and intra-city passenger mobility requirements.

The large order intake reflects customers’ growing confidence in the performance and reliability of electric commercial vehicles under real-world operating conditions. It also reinforces Tata Motors’ leadership in advancing zero-emission commercial transportation in India and signals a broader industry transition from pilot projects to large-scale operational deployment of electric mobility solutions.

Electric mobility in commercial vehicles is shifting from early adoption in India to large-scale deployment, with increasing use across a variety of sectors and real-world applications. Tata Motors is leading this transformation with a broad portfolio of electric commercial vehicles, supported by an enabling ecosystem that ensures electrification is both practical and profitable. Beyond vehicles, the company is closely partnering with fleet owners and customers to optimize performance, uptime, charging and financing across the entire lifecycle. As the adoption of electric commercial vehicles deepens, Tata Motors is focused on delivering customized, end-to-end solutions that enable customers to confidently and seamlessly transition to zero-emission mobility.

Over the last 12 months, Tata Motors has significantly strengthened its electric commercial vehicle portfolio, introducing a new generation of ECVs to suit different duty cycles and operating conditions. In the small commercial vehicle and pick-up segment, Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intra EV are enabling efficient, sustainable last-mile and intra-city delivery. This is complemented by expansion into the intermediate and heavy-duty segments with the Prima EV 55T tractor and the Ultra EV range (7-12T) with the Prima EV 28T tipper, designed for more demanding freight requirements. In passenger mobility, offerings including StarBus EV and Ultra EV buses are supporting both intra-city and intercity operations.

This progress is based on deep operational experience and continued investment in electric mobility. The company already has a significant electric fleet in operation, comprising over 3,800 electric buses across multiple cities, with a cumulative run of over 55 crore kilometres, generating valuable real-world insights to further enhance reliability, efficiency and lifecycle performance. Complementing this is the growing acceptance in the small commercial vehicle segment, with over 17,000 Tata ESCVs on the road, further strengthening the readiness of electric solutions across various terrains and applications.

Along with product development, Tata Motors has adopted an ecosystem-based approach to aid mass adoption. This includes a growing charging network through partnerships with 14+ charge point operators, EV-focused financing solutions with leading banks and NBFCs, advanced fleet management through Fleet Edge and comprehensive uptime assurance programs. Together, these elements are helping to make electric commercial mobility a practical and viable option for businesses today.
