Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has flagged off EKA Mobility’s electric buses in Jaipur, marking the beginning of the first phase of deployment under the company’s order for 876 electric buses in the state.
The contract was awarded to EKA Mobility in partnership with Chartered Speed under the PM e-Bus Seva initiative of the Government of India, which aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable public transport in urban centres. The electric buses will be deployed in eight cities of Rajasthan, strengthening the state’s efforts to promote cleaner, more efficient and environment-friendly mobility solutions.
Built on EKA Mobility’s advanced electric vehicle platform, the buses are equipped with intelligent transportation systems, advanced safety technologies and zero-tailpipe-emission powertrains. The vehicles also have dedicated wheelchair lift door mechanisms, ensuring better accessibility and inclusive mobility for passengers with disabilities.
Commenting on the milestone, Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman, EKA Mobility, said that the company is proud to support Rajasthan’s transition towards sustainable transportation and contribute to the development of a clean public mobility ecosystem.
This deployment will play a vital role in reducing the environmental impact of urban transport while improving passenger convenience, accessibility and operational efficiency. The initiative highlights the growing pace of adoption of electric public transport in India and is in line with the country’s broader sustainability and decarbonization goals.
