Expansion

RajmargYatra App: National Highway Authority (NHAI) has launched a new facility which will provide great relief to the people living around toll plazas. In which information is being given that now local residents living within a radius of 20 kilometers from the toll plaza will be able to get digital local pass made at home through Highway Yatra mobile app. With the help of this pass, one can travel through the respective toll plaza unlimited times for a month. The purpose of bringing this new system is to save people’s time and make the process of making toll passes completely digital.

Now there will be no need to go to toll plaza

Till now, to get a local pass, people had to go to the toll plaza and submit identity card and address related documents. This process often took time for verification and required repeated rounds. But now the entire process has been made online. Regarding which NHAI has said that through the local pass feature, eligible people can get the pass by applying from mobile within a few minutes. But for now, this facility has been started from Mundka-Bakkarwala Toll Plaza located on Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2), Delhi. After which it will also be implemented at other toll plazas in the country in the coming months.

Instant verification will be done through DigiLocker and VAHAN

To make this new system easier and faster, NHAI has linked it with government digital platforms like DigiLocker and VAHAN. Upon receiving the consent of the vehicle owner, his address, vehicle number and FASTag related information will be automatically verified. This will eliminate the need for uploading documents and manual verification to a great extent.

Apart from this, GIS (Geographic Information System) based technology will be used to determine the eligibility for local pass. This technology will check whether the applicant actually resides within a radius of 20 kilometers from the toll plaza or not.
