Montra Electric, the EV division of 125-year-old Murugappa Group, has strengthened its presence in Northeast India by opening an exclusive electric three-wheeler (E-3W) dealership in Silchar, Assam. Launched in collaboration with Sunbird Super Energy Private Limited, the new outlet is strategically located on Sonai Road.
The Silchar dealership will offer Montra Electric’s Super Auto (Passenger) and Super Cargo (Load Carrier) models – both designed to deliver exceptional range, strong performance and low cost of ownership for drivers, fleet operators and last-mile mobility businesses. The facility also includes a fully equipped service bay, trained technicians and readily available spare parts to ensure reliable and efficient after-sales support.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by notable leaders of Assam including Shri Khalin Uddin Majumdar (MLA, Katigorah) and Shri Karim Uddin Barbhaya (MLA, Sonai), which marks an important milestone towards sustainable mobility in the region.

This is Montra Electric’s 12th dealership in Assam for electric three-wheelers. The showroom area is 1200 square feet and the workshop area is 900 square feet.
With over 85% of new three-wheelers in the state already electric, Assam is on track to become the first state in India to adopt 100% electric three-wheelers. This shift underlines the region’s growing appetite for clean mobility and the growing role of EVs in last-mile connectivity.
