Montra Electric has started delivery of the first batch of 65 heavy-duty electric commercial trucks from its manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. This dispatch marks the first phase of a larger order comprising 260 electric commercial vehicles, which will be deployed across key industrial freight corridors in India.
This rollout represents Montra Electric’s transition from pilot operations to commercial-scale fleet electrification. The initial batch of Rhino 5538 EV trucks will support logistics operations in sectors such as mining, cement, steel and construction materials, driving the growing acceptance of electric mobility in heavy-duty commercial transportation. Delivery of the remaining 195 vehicles is scheduled in the coming months.
Designed for demanding freight applications, the Rhino 5538 EV is equipped with an advanced electric powertrain and integrated telematics to increase fleet efficiency, optimize vehicle performance and maximize operational uptime during long-haul transportation.
Commenting on the milestone, Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director, Montra Electric, said the rollout reflects the growing shift towards large-scale electrification in commercial logistics, as fleet operators seek sustainable and cost-effective transportation solutions while reducing operating expenses.
