Murugappa Group’s clean-mobility brand Montra Electric has expanded into northern agricultural markets with the launch of India’s first ARAI-certified electric tractor Montra Electric E-27, which has been showcased at the 9th edition of EIMA AgriMAC India 2025, one of the country’s leading global agri-machinery exhibitions.
The E-27 represents a breakthrough in sustainable, high-performance farming, engineered to deliver clean power, low operating costs and reliable performance across multiple agricultural applications. Built for the modern Indian farmer, the E-27 uses a high-efficiency PMSM motor to produce 27 HP of power and 90 Nm of torque to support heavy-duty tasks including ploughing, harrowing, spraying and hauling.
Available in 2WD and 4WD variants, the e-tractor is adaptable to various terrains and soil conditions. The 22.37 kWh LFP Prismatic battery ensures a runtime of up to 4.5 hours, with fast charging in just 2.15 hours, providing all-day efficiency and enhanced safety even in demanding field environments.
The E-27 is ARAI certified, highlighting compliance with stringent national standards for safety, reliability and overall performance. With an 8F+2R side-shift transmission, a dual-speed PTO (540 and 1000 rpm), and a strong 720 kg hydraulic lifting capacity, the e-tractor offers diesel-like capability without the emissions or excessive operating costs.
Economically, the E-27 offers a significant advantage. With no diesel consumption and low maintenance requirements, electric tractors can reduce operating costs by up to 70%, resulting in lifetime savings of close to ₹10 lakh compared to conventional diesel models.
The quiet operation and substantially reduced vibration of the e-tractor improves operator comfort, reduces fatigue and contributes to long-term health, an important factor for India’s huge agricultural workforce.

The e-27 is now made available for purchase at 17 dealerships across 10 states. The price range of our e-tractor starts from Rs 10.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
