MG unveils GO! And Cyber EV Concept at Goodwood Festival 2026

Continuing its rich British heritage spanning over a century, MG has unveiled two all-new electric concept cars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026. Making their global debut at the renowned automotive event, these concepts provide a preview of the brand’s future design direction by combining MG’s sporting heritage with next-generation electric vehicle technology.

Go MG! The concept provides an early look at a future B-segment electric hatchback planned for launch in 2027. Designed to make electric mobility more desirable and accessible, the concept blends retro-futuristic styling with modern EV innovation. Its design takes inspiration from some of MG’s most iconic models of the mid-20th century, notably the famous MGB GT, reinterpreting classic British design cues for a new generation.

Additionally, the MG Cyber Concept showcases the brand’s vision for a future D-segment electric performance SUV. Building on MG’s sporting DNA, the concept shows how high-performance driving can evolve in the electric age, moving beyond traditional sports car formats. It reflects MG’s ambition to provide an engaging driving experience across a wide range of vehicle segments.

Also, MG GO! And the MG Cyber Concept highlights the company’s growing engineering capabilities and commitment to innovation. By merging its heritage with cutting-edge EV technology, MG aims to shape a future where performance, design and electrification are accessible to a wider audience.

Go MG!

As a compact B segment battery electric hatchback, the MG GO! Explores a retro futuristic idea informed by some of MG’s most youthful and expressive designs of the mid-20th century. The British identity and spirit of MG has been redefined for a new generation with MG GO! As a preview of a future compact hatchback arriving in 2027.

The concept, along with the upcoming production model, has been completely designed by the team at the MG Design Center in London led by Design Director Carl Gotham. However, from the outset, the intention was never to create a nostalgic showpiece, but rather to create something contemporary and relevant: a compact car with genuine emotional appeal, imagined to stand apart in a highly competitive segment – to be balanced, playful and instantly charming.

The design language is deliberately simple, built around some key elements that reflect the qualities always admired in MG’s classic designs, particularly the MGB GT – a car that embodies everyday beauty, pleasure and presence without any excess.

At the same time, MG GO! It’s not simply a retro exercise, but aims to stand on its own, with an identity that acknowledges the past while feeling completely at home in today’s automotive landscape. This doesn’t mean sentimentality; This means designing a car evocative enough to create an emotional connection.

Go MG! It aims to feel deliberate but playful as a contemporary nod to the sporting MGs that have come before, from the MGB GT to the MG Metro Turbo, MG ZR and MG EX4. It reflects the belief that everyday cars can still have distinct personalities and form real emotional connections with the people who use them. It’s a statement for today and a little hint of where MG could go next.

“With the MG GO!, we wanted to create something compact and contemporary, but warm, expressive and instantly likable, capturing everything we admire about the MG brand. It’s not about looking back in itself, but about capturing some of the clarity, charm and emotional appeal that has always made MG so distinctive, and reinterpreting it in a way that still feels relevant today and importantly creating something with strong charisma.” said Carl Gotham, design director of Advanced Design, London.

MG Cyber Concept

Envisioned as the flagship expression of the MG brand, the Cyber Concept large SUV previews future models in the D-segment. It draws inspiration from two defining chapters of MG’s history: the relentless pursuit of speed embodied by the famous EX181 land speed record car and the spirit of innovation and reinvention that continues to shape MG today.

Cyber extends that philosophy into a new area. As a large, high-performance electric SUV, it combines the versatility and practicality expected by modern customers with the emotional appeal, dynamic character and sense of occasion traditionally associated with sports cars.

The main idea behind cyber is to perform without compromise. It strives to unite everyday utility with genuine driving pleasure, creating a vehicle equally suitable for urban environments, long distance travel and exotic roads. In doing so, it reflects the belief that the joy of driving must remain relevant, accessible and rewarding in every aspect of modern mobility.

Its design embodies this ambition through powerful proportions, a confident stance and carefully sculpted surfaces that exude athleticism and sophistication. Every element is shaped to convey movement and energy, creating a strong sense of presence whether the vehicle is in motion or at rest.

Commenting on the bold vision of the MG Cyber Concept, Jozef Kaban, Vice President of Global Design, said: “Great design starts with people, not products. Technology and innovation are essential, but they can be shared. Not character. The future of automotive design is about creating cars with a strong identity that people instantly recognize and connect with emotionally. Great design should spark curiosity, excitement and desire. It should inspire people to stop, smile and discover more. Our MG Concepts express this vision for the future of the brand.

Because great design is never just about the car. It’s about people, their experiences and their dreams. Our role is to inspire them and create products that enrich their life journey.”
