Mercedes-Benz India launches AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ at ₹1.45 crore

Mercedes-Benz India has expanded its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) portfolio with the launch of the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4Matic+, the first electrified AMG sedan in the E-Class range in India. The launch is in line with the company’s ‘Powertrain Agnostic’ strategy, offering customers the flexibility to choose the powertrain best suited to their driving needs, while further strengthening its electrified luxury vehicle lineup.

Available in Performance and Racing editions, the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4Matic+ is priced at ₹1.45 crore and ₹1.48 crore respectively (ex-showroom, India).

AMG performance matches hybrid efficiency

The high-performance sedan is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol engine mated to an electric motor, producing a combined system output of 430 kW (585 hp) and 750 Nm of torque. When the RACE START function is activated, power increases to 450 kW (612 hp).

The AMG E 53 Hybrid accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph, which can be increased to 280 kmph with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.

The sedan is equipped with a 28.6 kWh high-voltage battery, which offers a WLTP-certified electric-only driving range of over 100 km. It also supports 11kW AC charging, helping customers enjoy high-performance driving as well as emission-free daily commute.

The vehicle comes standard with AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering with 2.5 degrees steering angle, AMG Ride Control suspension and a hybrid-specific driving mode designed to balance everyday comfort with track-focused performance.

Mercedes-Benz reinforces powertrain strategy

Commenting on the launch, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said that the AMG E 53 Hybrid reflects the company’s commitment to offer customers multiple powertrain options.

“The E-Class has been the longest-running nameplate in the Indian automotive industry and the AMG E 53 Hybrid 4Matic+ underlines the performance, practical usability and electric efficiency that makes the E-Class portfolio truly unmatched. This performance sedan combines genuine AMG performance with plug-in hybrid efficiency, balancing the AMG customer’s need for racetrack performance with the practicality of daily use. The AMG E 53 Hybrid furthers our ‘powertrain agnostic’ strategy for India, where customers decide on their choice of powertrain,” said Iyer.

Mercedes-Benz enters Indian pedal ecosystem

In addition to the unveiling of the new AMG models, Mercedes-Benz India announced a multi-year title partnership with the Indian Padel Tour for the 2026-27 season, marking the luxury carmaker’s entry into one of India’s fastest growing sports.

The Mercedes-Benz Indian Padel Tour will feature 19 tournaments across 11 cities, including five major Grand Slam events, starting in Mumbai in August 2026 and concluding in Bengaluru in June 2027.

Through the partnership, Mercedes-Benz aims to strengthen customer engagement by providing distinctive lifestyle experiences beyond its vehicles.

Mercedes-AMG customers will receive privileged access to padel courts across India, invitations to exclusive padel days, priority registration and early access to India Padel Tour events. Buyers of the AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ will also get direct entry into Grand Slam events.

Speaking about the association, Iyer said, “At Mercedes-Benz, brand desirability extends beyond attractive products to building curated experiences and communities that inspire our customers, creating modern trends that shape culture. The association with Indian paddle tours reflects our commitment to creating such distinctive experiences, enhancing performance and driving emerging lifestyle trends.”

With the launch of the AMG E 53 Hybrid 4Matic+ and entry into India’s expanding pedal community, Mercedes-Benz India continues to combine high-performance mobility with electrification and premium lifestyle experiences as part of its long-term growth strategy.
