The interesting thing is that the hybrid version of the company’s popular SUV XUV 7XO is also said to be a part of these plans. In such a situation, if this information proves to be correct, then hybrid SUVs like Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyrider may get tough competition.

For information, let us tell you that Mahindra has given codenames W613 and W623 to its hybrid projects. Among these, the W613 project is said to be related to the hybrid model of XUV 7XO which can be launched in 2027. Powerful series-parallel hybrid system can be available

At present, the company has not shared any official information regarding the hybrid powertrain. However, there is talk in the auto industry that Mahindra XUV 7XO Hybrid will be built on a monocoque platform and a series-parallel hybrid system can be seen in it. This is said to be the same technology that is currently being used in SUVs like Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyrider. In this, petrol engine, electric motor and battery pack together provide better mileage and smooth driving experience.

How does this hybrid technology work?

If we look at the specialty of the series-parallel hybrid system, it is that the vehicle can run in completely electric mode at low speeds. During this time the battery provides power to the motor and the petrol engine remains off. When the battery charge is low, the engine works to generate electricity. At high speeds like highways, the engine supplies power directly to the wheels and the electric motor provides additional assistance when needed. Apart from this, the energy generated during braking is also used to charge the battery.
