Lexus has officially revealed full details of the all-new TZ, a three-row battery electric vehicle (BEV), making its global debut.
Since its debut in 1989, Lexus has continuously focused on innovation, introducing advanced technologies and creating new value-driven experiences for customers. At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the luxury automaker showcased several concept vehicles under its brand message, “Discover – Imitate No One -“, highlighting its vision to evolve into a brand that offers unique and personalized experiences.
As part of this new direction, Lexus will introduce a distinct “Discover” theme for each model in its lineup to define the experience and lifestyle value offered by the vehicle.
For the newly unveiled TZ, Lexus has adopted the theme of “Discover Limitless”, representing unlimited possibilities across different lifestyles and life stages. According to the company, the concept reflects its ambition to help customers move beyond everyday routine and embrace new adventures, experiences and opportunities through the all-electric SUV.
As a model that embodies this “Discover Limitless” vision, the TZ is a new BEV three-row SUV designed around the concept of a driving lounge – an advanced mobility space that brings smiles to every passenger. It seamlessly blends the comfortable cabin environment with the dynamic driving performance characteristic of Lexus. By balancing driving pleasure with lounge-like comfort at every seat, the TZ delivers new experiential value for customers who value their time above everything else. A dedicated platform and a simple, open cabin design create a spacious interior where everyone can relax regardless of seating position. Lexus has also refined its distinctive quietness and fully enhanced the vehicle’s dynamic performance, aiming to deliver both smooth ride quality and driving pleasure unique to a BEV.
The design of the TZ pursues the twin goals of sculptural beauty and aerodynamic excellence. While maintaining the powerful presence of an SUV, the TZ achieves top-class aerodynamic performance among Lexus SUVs, which contributes to its impressive driving range. Additionally, “Forged Bamboo”, a decorative material made from Shikoku bamboo, adorns the interior surfaces, supporting both sustainable craftsmanship and the preservation of traditional techniques. Through TZ, Lexus aims to provide a space that enriches time spent with loved ones, and an experience behind a vehicle that stimulates its driver’s emotions.

Lexus International Chief Engineer Takeshi Miyaura said the all-new TZ was developed around the concept of a “driving lounge” – a sophisticated and comfortable mobile space designed to bring enjoyment to both drivers and passengers.
According to Miyaura, the development team continuously refined the vehicle’s identity while focusing on customers who value authenticity and meaningful experiences. He explained that electrification through the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) platform was chosen as the ideal way to deliver those values, combining driving enjoyment with technological advancements.
Beyond the traditional Lexus experience of “looking,” “riding” and “driving,” the TZ places a new emphasis on how passengers spend time inside the vehicle. The company focused heavily on creating a comfortable, lounge-like cabin experience, paying attention to every detail including the newly developed platform, seats and panoramic roof.
Miyaura said that achieving harmony between design and aerodynamics was one of the key priorities of the project. While aerodynamic efficiency is essential for BEVs, Lexus also aims to create a distinctive design that will stand out in the growing luxury mid-size SUV segment. The result, he said, is shaped by a “functional aesthetic” that balances engineering performance with attractive styling.
On the driving side, Lexus took advantage of the benefits of electrification along with its “aji-migki” refinement philosophy to improve vehicle performance and cabin comfort. Special attention was paid to reducing noise and enhancing acoustic quality to create a serene and immersive environment.
“If you want to enjoy music, do it in TZ,” Miyaura said, emphasizing the vehicle’s lounge-like ambiance.
He highlighted the importance of sustainability not only from an environmental perspective, but also in preserving the emotional joy of driving for future generations. Lexus hopes the TZ will inspire drivers and passengers alike, delivering memorable experiences and strengthening the emotional connection with driving.
Miyaura said the “Driving Lounge” concept reflects Lexus’ ambition to combine premium comfort with engaging driving dynamics, while enhancing the experience for everyone on board. He said the TZ has been designed to bring more beauty, fun and depth to everyday journeys.
