Indofast Energy and Green Tiger Mobility have announced a strategic partnership to replace two-wheelers in electric vehicles equipped with battery-swapping capabilities. The initiative is currently active in Bangalore and will roll out in Delhi NCR by May with a nationwide expansion plan in the next 15 months.
Retrofit program enables owners to electrify its existing petrol scooters for an initial price of ₹ 10,000. All these inclusive costs include RTO approval, insurance and complete regulatory compliance. Customers can also opt for EMI payment, designed to be offset by fuel savings over time.
At the time of launch, the solution supports 11 popular scooter models from brands such as Hero, Honda, Suzuki, TV and Yamaha. Initially focusing on quick commercial distribution riders, the program will gradually be open to the widespread public.
ARAI-certified retrofit kits of green tiger mobility are supported by government bodies and educational institutions, adding credibility to the initiative. Indofast Energy, a joint venture of Indians and Sun mobility operates over 900 battery swap stations across India, which enables more than a million swaps monthly for various electric vehicles. The partnership aims to expedite EV adoption by offering an affordable, permanent option for the petrol scooter. The silver malahan of Indofast highlighted its role in the cost of emission and fuel, while Ashish Dokania of Green Tiger emphasized the practicality of converting existing vehicles when new purchases.
