GM Energy’s PowerBank will allow EV owners to store and transfer energy.

Published:

GM Energy has launched the GM Energy PowerBank, a stationary storage solution for electric vehicle (EV) owners to store and transfer energy from the grid, as well as integration with solar power systems. Available in 10.6 kWh and 17.7 kWh battery capacity options, the PowerBank can provide backup power during outages, help reduce energy costs during peak demand and store solar energy for later use. This allows users to supplement EV charging and power their homes even without having the EV plugged in.

By combining two 17.7kWh GM Energy powerbanks, consumers can create 35.4kWh of stable storage, enough to power the average American home for 20 hours.

“One of the key differentiators of GM Energy’s portfolio is its modularity,” said Wade Schaefer, vice president of GM Energy. “The flexibility of our energy management tools, combined with one of the market’s largest lineup of vehicle-to-home-capable EVs, gives our customers greater control over their energy use, helping to minimize the impact of power outages integrates renewable energy options. “And unlocking additional values.”

The GM Energy PowerBank is available for purchase as part of the GM Energy Home System Bundle, which also includes the GM Energy PowerShift Charger and the GM Energy Vehicle-to-Home Enablement Kit. Customers who previously purchased the GM Energy V2H bundle can simply add a GM Energy powerbank.

For customers looking to integrate solar energy, GM Energy will refer customers to Qmerit, a preferred installer, for a site assessment, compatibility check and personalized quote.

Like existing GM Energy V2H products, the GM Energy PowerBank and compatible solar power systems will be accessible through GM’s branded mobile apps for seamless energy management.
