In an unprecedented partnership to transform the EV charging landscape in India, Glida (Fortum Charge & Drive PLC) and Sunfuel (Sunfuel Electric PLC) have come together to create a state-of-the-art EV charging network on highways and premium destinations. The agreement was signed by Mr. Avdesh Kumar Jha, CEO of Glida and Mr. Sudhir Nayak, Founder and CEO of Sunfuel Electric in Gurugram on 28th November.
Under this collaboration, Sunfuel will provide the necessary location support for Glida’s fully developed, plug-and-play charger installation sites across the country. These sites will feature multiple chargers from Glida and other OEM partners in the future, ensuring redundancy and reliability for EV users. While Glida will oversee the installation of advanced EV chargers, Sunfuel will focus on site maintenance and enhancing the user experience.
Sunfuel plans to redefine the EV charging experience by transforming its locations into fully integrated hubs. These hubs will offer much more than just charging stations, including solar power generation for clean energy, advertising space for commercial use and a range of supporting services including retail counters, quick-service outlets and express car maintenance. Additionally, the sites will prioritize user comfort, offering clean restrooms, leisure facilities and robust security measures to ensure a safe and welcoming environment on the highways. This comprehensive approach aims to combine efficiency, innovation and premium services to deliver an exceptional EV charging experience.
Speaking about the collaboration, Mr. Avdesh Kumar Jha, CEO, Glida, commented, “This partnership is a positive-sum game that benefits EV users as much as it benefits the hosting partners in an efficient and well- Helps with managed feature. By combining Glida’s expertise in EV charging technology with Sunfuel’s innovative design and site management capabilities, we aim to set a new benchmark for the EV charging experience in India. Our combined efforts will ensure state-of-the-art charging infrastructure with world-class features that users require on the highways.
Highlighting the company’s design-first ethos and commitment to innovation, Mr. Sudhir Nayak, Founder and CEO, Sunfuel, said, “Since 2020, we have strived to redefine the EV charging experience by introducing new form factors. The monolith AC charger is a form factor that pioneered destination charging in luxury hotels and golf courses. With Glida as our partner, we aim to bring our expertise to the highways, creating never-before-seen EV charging hubs that blend functionality with aesthetic brilliance.
In addition to their focus on highway charging hubs, Sunfuel and Glida will continue to expand into the destination charging space, a segment that is seeing rapid growth as more EV users adopt long-distance electric travel. Hotels, resorts and other premium venues are increasingly demanding DC chargers to meet the rising expectations of their guests. The collaboration of Sunfuel and Glida will empower these installations with a combination of AC and superfast DC chargers, ensuring EV users experience minimal waiting time and a seamless charging process.
As electric cars have larger batteries with faster charging capabilities, the demand for efficient charging solutions is increasing, especially at premium destinations such as luxury hotels. Mr Sudhir Nayak highlighted that the partnership between Sunfuel and Glida aims to meet this demand with superfast chargers offering innovation, speed and reliability. This collaboration ensures scalability and redundancy with both AC and DC chargers at destinations, making EV travel to hotels and resorts more seamless. The partnership aims to redefine highway and destination charging, support India’s green mobility goals and promote sustainable EV adoption.
