Global travel-tech platform Flixbus has partnered with Green Drive Mobility to launch electric intercity bus services between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, marking a significant step towards sustainable long-distance mobility in India.
As part of the first phase of the collaboration, four electric buses will run on the Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam corridor, one of the busiest intercity travel routes in Andhra Pradesh. The initiative combines FlixBus’s digital ticketing and route management technology with Green Drive Mobility’s electric fleet operations, the companies said.
The electric buses will offer app-based ticket booking along with onboard features designed for long-distance commuters, while also reducing dependence on traditional diesel-powered coaches. The move is expected to contribute to reducing emissions in India’s growing intercity transport sector.
Commenting on the development, Harikrishna, Founder and CEO, Green Drive Mobility, said, “The deployment of EV buses on the Vijayawada-Vizag corridor allows us to provide a sustainable travel option while reducing carbon emissions and enhancing passenger comfort.”
The Vijayawada-Visakhapatnam route connects two major commercial and cultural centers in Andhra Pradesh and witnesses strong passenger traffic throughout the year. According to the companies, the deployment of electric buses aims to improve connectivity, travel reliability and overall passenger experience on the corridor.

Green Drive Mobility also revealed plans to expand its electric intercity bus operations to additional routes in South India in the coming phases as the demand for sustainable public transportation solutions continues to grow.
