Indian Car Market: India’s auto market has gained great momentum in June 2026. Let us tell you that this month, sales of about 4 lakh cars were recorded across the country, which is about 24% more than in June last year. In this, the launch of new cars, increasing demand for CNG and electric vehicles and strong purchases by customers have given new energy to the market. But it is also worth noting that amidst this boom, some companies registered record sales while some also had to face challenges.

Maruti Suzuki became number-1

This time in June 2026 also, Maruti Suzuki has made a record by selling the maximum number of cars. In which the company has sold 1,50,150 units. This figure is more than the same month last year which was 1,21,339 units. The reason behind this success of the company in this list is the increasing popularity of CNG models. Especially the customers liked the underbody CNG system given in the new Victoris. Let us tell you that in June the company exported 42,768 vehicles, which is about 13% more on annual basis.

Tata beats Mahindra, slips to third position

The biggest change in this time’s list was seen at the second position. In which Tata Motors left Mahindra behind by selling 62,076 cars. Tata’s sales in June last year were 37,083 units. In this, the excellent response received by SUVs like Punch, Nexon and the new Sierra has done a great job. Mahindra & Mahindra, on the other hand, sold 60,393 cars in June. However, the company’s total vehicle sales including all segments were 1,06,207 units, which shows an increase of 37% compared to last year.

Hyundai sales declined, Toyota and Kia showed strength

It is further being reported that in June, Hyundai’s domestic sales declined by almost 10% to 39,635 units. Regarding which the company says that due to a fire in a supplier’s factory, production was affected for about 22 days. However, now production has started normally in all the plants. Toyota, on the other hand, sold 28,441 vehicles, to which strong demand for Innova Crysta contributed significantly. Whereas Kia India sold 24,552 units, JSW MG Motor 7,568, Nissan 3,006 vehicles and Renault sales have also registered improvement.

Looking at this, it is clear that the Indian auto market is now rapidly moving towards CNG, electric, hybrid and flex-fuel technology. However, global tensions, a possible weak monsoon and rising vehicle prices could pose challenges in the coming months.
