India’s leading manufacturer of LNG and electric heavy-duty trucks, Blue Energy Motors (BEM), has achieved fresh funding, making its total capital to $ 50 million. The company’s vision for green mobility is supported by Essar and FPT (IVECO Group), serving both as a strategic investor and technology partner. In the latest funding round, Blue Energy Motors raised an additional $ 30 million from Nikhil Kamath and Omantes Industries.
The BEM currently has a manufacturing capacity of 10,000 trucks per year. Fresh funding will play an important role in fully unlocked this capacity, accelerating production, expanding the development of heavy trucks of liquid natural gas (LNG) and electric vehicles (EV) and increasing the green dynamics footprint of the company across India.
The company leads India’s transport sector, which contributes about 15% of the country’s total carbon emissions. As India’s largest manufacturer of LNG trucks, the company has sold around 1000 vehicles that are successfully running with the leading Fortune 500 companies. These trucks have collectively traveled over 60 million kilometers, leaving carbon emissions more than 15,000 tonnes (CO2).
