Aptera unveils production-ready solar electric vehicle at CES 2025

Published:

Aptera Motors has taken a significant step towards revolutionizing transportation with the unveiling of its production-ready solar electric vehicle (sEV) at CES 2025. Marking the transition from prototypes to validation vehicles, the launch of Aptera highlights its commitment to redefine mobility. The new vehicle promises exceptional energy efficiency, eliminates the need for conventional charging, and offers a truly zero-emission driving experience.

Solar Powered for the First Time at CES: CES attendees made history with the unveiling of the first solar powered EV, designed to eliminate the need to plug in for most daily driving. Aptera’s sEV showcases advanced engineering with impressive features, including up to 400 miles of range on a single charge in less than an hour. The vehicle provides up to 40 miles of free driving every day, powered entirely by sunlight, and in sunny weather, it can provide more than 10,000 miles of solar-powered driving annually, eliminating reliance on grid charging. Reduces considerably.

The event marked the first public demonstration of Aptera’s fully integrated solar array, consisting of four panels strategically placed on the vehicle’s hood, dash, roof and hatch. Additionally, Aptera showcased its production body structure made from Carbon Fiber Sheet Molding Compound (CF-SMC). This advanced material significantly simplifies the design using less than a tenth of the parts found in conventional vehicles, resulting in a lightweight yet durable construction.

“A critical moment for sustainable mobility”: “Today is a critical moment not only for Aptera but for the future of sustainable transportation,” said Chris Anthony, co-CEO of Aptera Motors. “This vehicle embodies years of innovation and the continued pursuit of energy-efficient mobility. CES is the perfect platform to share our vision and invite the world to join us in building a clean, solar-powered future.

Redefining transportation: Aptera’s sEV is a departure from the automotive norm. Unlike large, heavy vehicles that rely on fossil fuels or grid power, the Aptera generates its own energy. It is a lightweight, self-contained solution tailored to today’s world and tomorrow’s challenges.
