UltraViolet and the Indian Army have launched a 40-day Himalayan endurance expedition in Walong, Northeast India. Covering a distance of approximately 4,850 km across the Himalayan region, Gangetic plains and the Northeast, the campaign aims to promote sustainable mobility while paying tribute to the martyred soldiers.
The journey brings together the Indian Army’s values of grit, discipline and preparedness with Ultraviolette’s focus on engineering, performance and technology. The expedition will see the Ultraviolette X-47 crossover navigate some of the most challenging terrain in India, highlighting the potential of electric mobility in diverse geographical conditions.
Through this initiative, UltraViolet and the Indian Army aim to celebrate the spirit of exploration, honor the sacrifice of soldiers and showcase the capabilities of electric two-wheelers in demanding environments.
It continues to demonstrate that electric mobility can be much more than just urban commuting or everyday transportation. It can also be about performance, exploration and the ability to undertake journeys that challenge both the machine and the rider.
The campaign was flagged off from Manekshaw Auditorium in the presence of General Dheeraj Seth (PVSM, UYSM, AVSM), Chief of Army Staff, Indian Army, Shri AS Sawhney, Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IndianOil) and Shri Ajay Shankar, CFO, UltraViolet.
Commenting on the occasion, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-Founder of UltraViolet, said, “The Indian Army represents the qualities we deeply value at UltraViolet; resiliency, accuracy, readiness and the unwavering ability to perform in the most demanding environments. It is a privilege to bring that spirit together with the engineering philosophy behind the UltraViolet X-47. Endurance riding is more than a test of distance; it’s a test of machine, rider and mentality over some of the most challenging terrain in the country.
The 40-day expedition will put the X-47 through a mix of long-distance rides, challenging terrain and diverse environmental conditions, taking it beyond traditional road and test environments. The journey will serve as a comprehensive endurance test for the motorcycle and its riders, challenging their ability to maintain consistent performance over extended periods while showcasing the X-47’s engineering and demonstrating the capabilities of the new generation of performance electric mobility.
The X-47’s architecture brings together stability, control and dynamic performance—characteristics that become critical when navigating difficult and unpredictable terrain. Its engineering and integrated technical systems are designed to suit the demands of the rider and expedition, delivering confidence, control and consistent performance while preserving the distinctive Ultraviolette riding experience.
The journey will end at Walong in Arunachal Pradesh, marking the completion of the 40-day expedition that celebrates endurance, courage, exploration and the spirit of moving beyond boundaries.
