Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e, the first electric Mercedes-Maybach in the country. This plug-in hybrid luxury sedan combines quiet electric driving with the long-distance flexibility of a gasoline engine.
The S 580e is powered by a six-cylinder plug-in hybrid with 4MATIC all-wheel drive producing 585 hp and 750 Nm of torque, paired to a 9G-TRONIC transmission. It has a WLTP electric range of up to 98 kilometers, which the company says means a real-world range of around 100 kilometers, reaching 140 km/h on electric power alone. Drivers can choose between Maybach, electric and battery-keeping modes, as well as adjustable energy recuperation and one-pedal driving.
Supporting up to 11 kW AC and 60 kW DC charging, each vehicle comes with a free home charging solution. Car owners can also use public chargers through MB.CHARGE.
The India-spec model comes in a four-seat first-class rear configuration only, with individual executive seats and a full-length center console. A Burmester 4D surround sound system with 31 speakers and 1,610 watts of output enhances the cabin experience. Inside, MANUFAKTUR’s exquisite craftsmanship brings Maybach exclusive Nappa leather, piano paint trim and a handmade leather headliner.
The car runs the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which features cloud-based AIRMATIC air suspension that uses navigation data to prepare for the road ahead. The rear axle steering angle is as high as 10 degrees, making the large luxury sedan easier to turn and the speed to be more stable.
Safety features include 15 airbags, PRE-SAFE protection system and GUARD 360° vehicle security. Digital headlights with adaptive high-beam assist plus are standard, along with an illuminated Maybach grille and logo projection.
