Raptee.HV has launched an Electric Mobility Center of Excellence at Rajalakshmi Engineering College, marking the beginning of a long-term industry-academia partnership that aims to provide students with greater industry exposure and practical education in electric vehicle engineering.
Inaugurated by Abhay Meganathan S, vice-president, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, on World EV Day, the 3,000-square-foot facility is one of the first initiatives under Rapti.HV Academy, the company’s comprehensive program designed to bring practical EV engineering experience and industry-oriented education to educational institutions.
The launch also marks the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Rapti.HV and Rajalakshmi Engineering College, formalizing a long-term collaboration in electric mobility.
The partnership creates multi-faceted avenues for industrial training, site visits, guest lectures, internships, industry-oriented courses and joint research. By combining REC’s academic talent with Raptee.HV’s expertise in electric motorcycle engineering, students and faculty can engage directly with real-world EV challenges. Built with an investment of ₹50 lakh, the HV Lab goes beyond traditional classroom teaching to house the Rapti.HV T30, a naked motorcycle equipped with core EV components, digital twin technology, interactive learning modules and dedicated space for practical experiments and prototyping.
Geared towards electrical, electronics and automotive engineering students, the lab provides direct, hands-on engagement with core EV systems, including battery packs, electric motors, power electronics, charging infrastructure, vehicle communications and real-time diagnostics. By combining theory and practice, this facility empowers students to move beyond traditional classroom instruction to actively experiment, prototype, and create next-generation electric mobility solutions. Additionally, the laboratory will promote faculty development, industry-linked projects, collaborative research and intellectual property creation, enabling students and academics to tackle real-world engineering challenges faced by the EV industry.
Dinesh Arjun, Co-Founder and CEO of Rapti.HV, commented, “The next generation of mobility will be created by engineers who understand everything from machines to cells to software. But you can’t build that understanding from the classroom alone. You have to get your hands dirty, take systems apart, question how they work, experiment, and recreate. HV Lab is our effort to bring that experience to engineering education. If only a few students could learn the next great EV technology.” If we walk out of this lab with the desire to create, then we have done our job.”
Mr. Abhay Meganathan S, Vice President, Rajalakshmi Engineering College, said, “Electric mobility is changing the future of transportation, and engineering education must evolve with this change. At Rajalakshmi, we believe that students learn best when academic knowledge is complemented by meaningful exposure to real-world technologies and industry practices. Our collaboration with Raptee.HV and the launch of the REC-Raptee.HV Center of Excellence for Electric Mobility is an important step in that direction. This center will provide us with opportunities to engage with advanced EV technologies, pursue research and innovation, and develop solutions to real-world mobility challenges. We are pleased to partner with Raptee.HV to shape the future of electric mobility.
The new center further strengthens Rajalakshmi’s growing ecosystem of advanced research and industry-oriented innovation. Rajalakshmi has made significant investments in building advanced research infrastructure with 15 Centers of Excellence with state-of-the-art equipment and licensed software. Its multidisciplinary research ecosystem includes centers of excellence in Artificial Intelligence, Medical Imaging, Machine Vision, MEMS and Microfluidics, Renewable Energy, Biofilms, Data Science, Digital Manufacturing, Internet of Things (IoT), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Tanchem Design Center and Tansum Spoke Centre.
