AI and ADAS work together in modern cars. While AI analyzes the data received from sensors and cameras installed in the car, Adas operates features like automatic braking, alerts and lane control on the same basis. It is also often called ‘AI Powered Ads’. This system alerts the driver if there is a sudden vehicle or pedestrian on the road and can even apply brakes if needed.

The Indian market has seen a huge surge in the demand for smart and connected cars. According to the data, the share of cars equipped with Adas has increased to 8.3 percent in 2025, which was 6.2 percent a year ago. Now these features are available even in cars in the range of Rs 15 to 25 lakh. Research firms estimate that the share of connected cars in India could reach 40 to 45 percent in the coming years.

In the new generation cars, not only the dangers outside, but also the condition of the driver are monitored. The driver monitoring system tracks the driver’s eye and facial movements and issues instant alerts if signs of fatigue or sleep are detected. Apart from this, to make driving easier, features like AI voice assistant, 360 degree camera and Augmented Reality (AR) navigation are also being provided, which shows directions directly on the windshield.

Which cars are available with these features?
In India, currently these smart features are mainly seen in mid-size and premium SUV segments. Key models include Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV700, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Hyundai Verna and Tata Nexon EV. Their prices range between approximately Rs 11 to 25 lakh. Experts believe that in the coming time, these features will be available in even cheaper cars, making ‘smart vehicles’ within the reach of every common customer.
