Tata Motors has deployed a fleet of electric buses specifically for labor transportation at its Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand. These indigenously manufactured zero-emission buses are equipped with the latest features and are powered by advanced battery systems. TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited (TSCMSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, will facilitate employee commuting through its modern Tata fleet of over 9 million electric buses.

Designed to provide a safe, comfortable and convenient commuting experience, this electric bus service will provide clean, green transportation for more than 5,000 people, thereby reducing the carbon footprint and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,100 tons per year. Electricity generated by the 16MW solar farm will charge a fleet of electric buses, making the entire operation green from start to finish.

Announcing the launch of the project, Vishal Badshah, Vice President and Head of Operations, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles said, “The launch of electric buses for employee commuting marks a significant step forward in Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles’ aspiration to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2045. We are committed to making all our manufacturing facilities green by embedding sustainability across the entire value chain, from procurement to development, engineering to operations. I am delighted to be in Pantnagar Firstly, because it complements and recognizes the success of the site’s numerous sustainability initiatives, it is already a certified zero waste to landfill facility and has also received CII-GBC’s Water Positive certification. The launch of the zero-emission, e-fleet service creates another important milestone in the site’s sustainability journey.”

The Tata Ultra EV 9m electric bus features an all-electric drivetrain and comes with smart features such as regenerative braking system and intelligent transportation system. This deployment builds on Tata Motors’ huge success in electric mass mobility in India, where the company has deployed more than 3,100 electric buses in 10 cities. These buses have a cumulative mileage of more than 240 million kilometers and an uptime of more than 95%, proving the reliability and efficiency of Tata Motors’ electric mass mobility solutions.
