Montra Electric M&HCV has achieved a major milestone, as its major heavy-charge electric trucks, Rhino 5538ev have covered more than 1.2 million kilometers on Indian roads within just two years of launch. Working with a fleet of 350 trucks, Rhino has demonstrated extraordinary reliability in steel, cement and port logistics sectors, reducing more than 3.79 million tonnes emissions.
Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Jalaj Gupta, Managing Director of Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility), said, “This milestone is strongly valid for India’s clean dynamics. With Rhino 5538ev, we are proving that electric heavy transport is not a distant dream, but a current reality is a current reality.
With frequent expanding fleet, Rhino Heavy Duty EV trucks have had large -scale impact in important areas such as steel, cement and port logistics, which bring real value to customers. Leading cement and steel companies have adopted these EV trucks as early moves and have ordered repeat in the last two years.
The Rhino 5538ev currently records an uptime of more than 98%, exhibiting frequent reliability in the high-mang industrial environment. Along with reducing operating costs through fuel and maintenance saving, trucks are helping companies accelerate their disorganization goals. The dedicated 24 × 7 on-site service support further ensures further high uptime and productivity.
Covering more than 1.2 million kilometers in just two years, Montra Electric’s M&HCV fleet has reduced the estimated 3.79 million tonnes of CO ₂ emissions, which is equal to the carbon absorption capacity of about 181 million trees. It represents an important environmental achievement and a strong step towards cleaner goods transport.
The Rhino EV range 6 × 4 spreads heavy commercial vehicles starting with a tractor trailer. It will soon include 4 × 2 tractor trailer and 6 × 4 configuration tipper. Developed by Montra Electric (TI Clean Mobility), EV Venture of Murugappa Group, Rhino is operated by 282 KWH LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery and a best-in-in-class PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor). Together, they provide 280 kW (380 hp) power and 2000 Nm of torque. The truck supports fast charging up to 240 kW, which enables 20–100% charge in only 60 minutes, with a certified range of 169* km under standard testing conditions.
Driver in its core designed with comfort, rhino trucks have clutchless driving experience, low NVH (noise, vibration, rigidity), smooth power distribution, and automated manual transmission (AMT) to deal with confidence in load and empty conditions. Drivers have consistently shared positive response, quoted as a pleasure to drive Rhino.
Built on a strong and rugged driveline, Rhino comes with a strong chassis frame and a proven set including heavy-duty bogie suspension, merit axle and wabco air brake. Its muscles cabins and stylish dials also give rhino a commanding appearance on Indian roads.
