PM Modi flagged Maruti Suzuki’s first EV and Suzuki’s first Li-Aye battery production in India. Vampire

Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi identified Maruti Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited (SMG), a fully owned subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki India, marked the beginning of the production of Maruti Suzuki’s first battery electric vehicle (BEV), Evitara. He also observed Suzuki’s first lithium ion battery, cell and electrode local manufacturing as TDS Lithium-Aye Battery Gujarat Private Limited (TDSG), a fellow assistant.

The event was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel, Japanese Ambassador Mr. Kichichi Ono, Suzuki Motor Corporation President Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, Maruti Suzuki President Mr. RC Bhargava, and MD and CEO Mr. Hajashi Tekuchi, with senior government officials.

At one time, when most of the interactions about electric vehicles in India are technically around the imports of advanced countries, car market leader Maruti Suzuki decided to bring a paradigm change and produced a state -of -the -art bew, both for the Indian market and for export to more than 100 markets of the world, including Europe and Japan.

Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara is the largest mass-produced and exported electric vehicle from India. Born from a successful India-Japanese partnership, E Vitara combines Suzuki’s technology with India’s manufacturing skills, in the true spirit of Make in India; Make for the world. E Vitara is built on a freshly designed EV-cavalry platform and is not an IC engine vehicle that has been converted to EV as the latter includes several design agreements. E Vitara has previously been previously matched in India at India’s Mobility Global Expo in India and India in India.

In another major achievement, Maruti Suzuki’s fellow subsidiary, TDSG, has become India’s first company to gain localization of electrode levels of lithium-ion battery cells, making India self-sufficient in battery manufacturing for hybrid electric vehicles. This electrode level (cathode + anode) localization is a step towards increasing the spread of hybrid electric vehicles in the country. These lithium-ion batteries go into the hybrid system of the popular SUV model, Grand Vitara.

Both these milestones carry forward the vision of Shri Narendra Modi’s uninterrupted India vision, through the localization of supply chains and skill development for the electrified powertrain ecosystem. These will bring milestone vision to the volume and scale to make reality.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Toshihiro Suzuki, Representative Director and Chairman, Suzuki Motor Corporation said, “We are deeply honored that the Hon’ble Prime Minister has caught the opportunity of memory of two historical incidents for the Indian automobile industry. Will provide technologies that will reduce oil consumption and import and carbon emissions such as battery electric vehicles, strong hybrid electric vehicles and vehicles operating by natural gas and biofuel. ”
