Polestar Energy makes home charging smarter, more efficient and cheaper.

Published:

Polestar continues to expand its innovative energy initiative, now available in 11 markets, with additional launches planned for the second half of this year. Polestar Energy provides customers with smarter, more efficient and cost-effective home charging solutions, complemented by Polestar Charge, which provides access to over 875,000 charging points across Europe, including Tesla Superchargers for convenient off-home charging. In North America, customers can access more than 17,800 Tesla Superchargers with NACS adapters, completing Polestar’s extensive charging ecosystem.

Following a successful pilot scheme in the UK and Netherlands, today Belgium and Switzerland have been added to the full Polestar Energy offer, while customers in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain can take advantage of smart charging and solar .

Michael Loescheller, CEO of Polestar, says: “As the only global premium EV brand it is important that we provide our customers with such an attractive charging offer to make using their cars easier and more cost-effective. Savings of 30% on charging costs at home can make a big difference, and so we are rolling out this offer on a larger scale, with more markets coming later this year. When we add vehicle-to-grid capabilities to Polestar’s line-up it will add even greater value to our customers.

Thanks to the Polestar Energy app, customers decide when they need to use their car and what the desired charging level is, and smart charging takes care of the rest – charging their car when it’s suitable for the grid. Balancing demand and charging when demand is low results in cheaper energy costs, either in the form of grid rewards at the source or in the form of lower energy costs when receiving an electricity bill.

In some markets, charging costs can be reduced by up to 30%, with savings of up to 300 euros per year possible due to additional grid rewards. The net result is a significant reduction in total cost of ownership for Polestar customers.

CO2 is also reduced in the car’s usage phase, as the renewable energy mix is often higher at times of low grid demand, meaning charging your EV using the Polestar Energy app is kinder to the environment.

Later in 2025, bi-directional charging with vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home capabilities, first targeted on the Polestar 3, will allow customers to use their vehicle as energy storage and power excess energy back into the grid. or even power your home. ,

Customers wishing to avail this offer will need to have a compatible home charger. They can choose the Zaptech Wallbox with smart charging capability directly from Polestar through a special offer including installation costs.
