XPENG G6 achieves five-star ANCAP safety rating

Published:

Leading Chinese high-tech automotive company XPENG Motors has announced that its electric ultra-smart coupe SUV, the XPENG G6, has received the coveted five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

This top rating highlights the G6’s excellent safety performance in several key areas, including Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, Vulnerable Road User Protection and Safety Assist. The G6 performed excellently in crash tests, especially in the side impact and oblique pole tests, where it scored maximum points.

The XPENG G6’s advanced active safety features also received high praise. Its comprehensive safety systems include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for a variety of scenarios – car-to-car, vulnerable road users and motorcyclist safety – all of which scored exceptionally well. Additionally, the G6’s robust lane support system and intelligent speed assist further enhance road safety.

Innovative structural design choices ensure high standards of passive safety when operating the G6. The vehicle features China’s leading integrated front-and-rear die-casting technology, with a high-strength aluminum frame incorporating 51% aluminum alloy. This design optimizes load distribution during a collision, reducing intrusion risks while achieving a lightweight, high-stiffness body that is critical for passenger safety.

Battery safety, the cornerstone of XPENG’s innovation, is also ensured thanks to cutting-edge technologies, including a no-thermal-runaway design, a multi-layer thermal barrier and a dual-circuit liquid cooling system that guarantees stability even in extreme conditions. Gives.

This result follows XPENG’s five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP for the international version of the G6 SUV in September 2024.

“This five-star ANCAP rating highlights the exceptional safety standards of XPENG vehicles and reinforces our commitment to providing industry-leading safety innovations,” said Brian Gu, vice president and president of XPENG. Our in-house engineering team remains at the forefront of technology, ensuring that every XPENG vehicle not only provides superior protection to its passengers, but also actively enhances road safety through advanced systems and intelligent design.
